As data centers continue to gain attention across Pennsylvania, Alerify Founder and CEO Andy Kochanowski brings a practical, real-world voice to the conversation. With more than 30 years of experience in technology and telecommunications, Andy helps demystify what data centers do, how they operate, and why scale and design matter.
A Different Approach to Data Centers in Central Pennsylvania
Unlike massive hyperscale data centers proposed for farmland or industrial zones, Alerify operates a Tier 3, SOC 2 Certified data center in suburban Harrisburg. Designed to serve businesses that need secure, reliable infrastructure, Alerify’s facility is intentionally sized. They deliver enterprise-level redundancy, private AI, and colocation without the disruption of multi-acre developments in Pennsylvania's farmland.
“Not every data center needs to be massive to be effective,” Andy explains. “Design, efficiency, and operational responsibility matter just as much as size.”
Energy Efficiency and Responsible Design
As artificial intelligence and high-performance computing increase demand for electricity, Andy emphasizes the importance of responsible infrastructure planning. Alerify relies on advanced air-cooling systems and offsets a significant portion of its energy use (almost 50%) through on-site solar power. This reduces environmental impact while maintaining performance and reliability.
Alerify's approach stands in contrast to larger facilities that often require liquid cooling and substantial water usage to manage GPU-driven workloads.
Educating Communities on Data Centers
Andy has become a trusted voice in conversations around data centers by focusing on education and transparency. Through Alerify, he works closely with businesses, local officials, and community leaders to explain how data centers support everyday services. From secure banking and healthcare systems to cloud applications and AI technologies, Andy is able to address legitimate concerns around energy, zoning, and long-term infrastructure impact.
Leading with Experience and Intent
After decades in the corporate technology sector, Andy founded Alerify to apply his experience in a more intentional way. He runs a data center that is rooted in security, trust, and long-term partnership. As Pennsylvania continues to navigate the future of digital infrastructure, Andy remains committed to thoughtful growth that balances innovation with community responsibility.
